    Title:
Family Tree Maker Mac 3 - Serious TreeSync Design Problem
    Summary:
Tree sync is *incorrectly* summarizing multiple source citations
    Content:

I added several citations in Ancestry for the City Directory Beta and the 1910 Census.  In Family Tree Maker 3 for mac only 1 entry for each Citation Detail is created within *each* sync session. This is completely unlike FTM2, which correctly created separate entries for each individual.

     For example:

On Ancestry, in the  City Directory Beta, the citation detail is always blank. I added attached citations  for different individuals of different names, and different  years.  After sync, in FTM3, there was one Source Citation listed, with all the data points conjoined.  All data in the citation was for the last entry added (text, link, media).

If one adds 1 entry then sync, separate source citations are made, with the correct data.

Similar issues are found when adding census records, the citation detail uniquely defines a page. Thus everyone on one page is summarized to the same Source Citation, whether or not they are part of the same family.

I caution anyone using the software to take great care and double check all data synced.

      Hello David,

I don't believe I am understanding you correctly. Could you please provide a screen shot for us of what you are describing here?

      Thank you,

I created a new public test tree here to illustrate

      http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/64721713/family

I added John Doe, and Son, John Doe Jr.

      Between syncs I added:

First: 1914 Rochester City Directory Entry for John Doe Jr

Second: 1901 Rochester City Directory Entry for John Doe

These are different individuals in different years of the directory.

After sync the entries are incorrectly listed under one source entry in FTM3 for MAC:

The View source online link points to the last entry I added, the 1901 for John Doe:

        Hello David,

Thank you very much for the screen shots and further explanation. I do understand exactly what you are describing now. I tried to duplicate this multiple times in Family Tree Maker Mac 3 with a test file I created and synced to Ancestry.com. I tried to add two different U.S. City Directories records for both father and son in my test tree on Ancestry and then synced (did not get the same duplication of sources for both father and son), and then I tried to add them through a Web search in Family Tree Make Mac 3 (still not the same outcome as yours). Since you were able to duplicate this on a test tree, we believe you may need to do a complete uninstall, and then reinstall in safe mode. For the complete uninstall directions, please click here. For directions on starting your Mac in safe mode, click here. After you have started your Mac in safe mode, we would then just have you in reinstall Family Tree Maker Mac 3, and then try the test tree again. If you can no longer duplicate the issue, just import your existing files, and restore the sync.

        Thank you,

        Hannah L

          Hannnah,

I followed the directions, clearing out the previous install, reinstalled, and (while still in safe mode) retested.

I have the same result.  To be clear:

          Before syncing (set to manual):

I went to John Doe (father) searched for City Directory entries, and added one for 1899, (Rochester, NY)

I went to John Doe Jr (Son) searched for City Directory entries, and added one for 1918. (Rochester, NY)

          I manually synced

          Same Resulting Source Citation issue:

          https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57301308/Screen%20Shot%202013-12-28%20at%201.47.34%20PM.JPG

As reminder, I had the same issue when adding a family from a census page, so this issue is not unique to the City Directory database.

          Thank you.
